Could you give me some advice on building a website?

I'm a total novice and I don't know any html. Are there any web editors for beginners? Or could you teach me a bit of html? My friend said website building tutorials are out of date. I've asked him for help but I don't think he can be bothered.

Then when I've designed my website what do I do? How do I host it / put it online or whatever? Can you recommend any good or free hosts?Could you give me some advice on building a website?
If you want to create a real website you need to get a real (paid) hosting and a domain name (like www.yourwebsite.com). You can't get it for free.

I recommend one of these http://www.webhostingtable.com

Fatcow has the best offer right now.

Their standard price is $88/year

but they have the 50% sale right now.

Disk space: Unlimited

Bandwidth: Unlimited

A Free domain name

Unlimited domains and subdomains

Price: $44/year

They're one of the oldest hosting companies, founded 1998, they're also one of the largest, currently hosting about 500,000 websites.

Their hosting plan includes a web builder, so you can create your site just by drag and drop (without any programming), or you could install Wordpress (easy, one click install from their control panel), choose a theme that you like, and start adding content.Could you give me some advice on building a website?
rent a virtual host to put all your webpages in the server

then you can see your webpages in the internet

building a real website with .com or your domain name

is like having a physical store

3 steps you need to complete

1. find a physical store (find a server/virtual host)

you may rent or do it by yourself or but it

Rent-means you need ';virtual host'; (search engine can help you)

Do it by yourself - find a computer and set it as a server

here is the server-related search

2. put your commodities in your physical store (uploading your contents to server)

Web contents are placed to the server(photos or texts)

any function you need can install in this stage

here is the webpage-related search

3. name your physical store (domain name setting like www.tsmmc.com)

visitors can link to your website with your domain name easily

by setting DNS server

here is the domain name-related search

try outsourcing of it - you will save a lot of time
Microsoft Office Live Small Business makes it easy to build your own site without any HTML knowledge because it is template based. This means you enter the information you want, and the service codes your work so that you don't have to. It also let's you register a domain name and hosts the site, which are two things you need if you want to have a real website.

Cheers,

Jeff

Also i do love the Sams 24 hour books, as a beginner and as an expert for references .

For hosting, you will need a domain first (godaddy.com about $12 a year) or most hosting companies will get the domain for you free. Hosting is a lot cheaper than most people think even $5 to $8 a month .. I help run a site on webhosting (and other related things) and these are the three most popular:

hostgator ($5 to $7 a month)

http://tinyurl.com/yhllcdv

EasyCGI ($8/month)

http://tinyurl.com/yg5q9ah

Webhosting Buzz ($6/month)

http://tinyurl.com/yb4xz4e

When you register for your account, keep your activation email and read it carefully. It can be intimidating at first glance but everything you need is there. It tells you how to access your account, how to configure your DNS (already done for you if you purchase the domain through the hosting company), how to transfer your website over, and voila! You are online

I've had requests from friends I've helped that I should video myself doing a website from scratch and putting it on youtube and our site - perhaps I should :)

good luck to you!

good luck

Free web hosting: http://www.000webhost.com
I suggest http://site123.com , they have a great set of tools and free tech support.
As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. A domain name is a name you want to call your website (ex: www.yahoo.com). To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.

If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.

As an experienced webmaster I recommend BH web hosting which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting %26amp; I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.

They also offer ';Free Site Builder'; that helps you build your web pages without difficulty if you are not skilled in using any website creating program. (WYSIWYG: What You See Is What You Get) You can use this service optionally. You can also create the pages offline with your favorite program (DreamWeaver, FrontPage, Microsoft Publisher, etc.), and then upload them to your web host. This is another easy way to get your website online.
