Has any-one got any advice for building a chook pen?

I have built two chook pens since we have been on the farm. these are a few steps you should take when building them.





1) Ask at the hardware store to make sure the supplies you are using are safe for animals.





2) Plan out the area where your going to build it.





3) For the corner posts if you are using wood be sure to cement them in. A easier alternate is to use long steel pickets.





4) Use fine wire to prevent snakes and mice coming into the pen





5) Make sure there is shelter for the chooks and a roost





6) Make an easy accessible gate so you can get in the chook pen





7) I advise you to use steel pickets they are way easier.

Not really hun, just make sure you build it high enough that foxes/cat/dogs cant get in, or with a roof:)
